About Us A passion for photography and outdoor recreation is the driving force behind Smith-Walton Productions, which is a family owned full-service photography resource for automotive, outdoor and construction industry and the related enthusiast magazines. Built around the considerable skills and experience of Senior Photographer Bruce W. Smith, our team knows photography and we know the sports, machines and gear we shoot. Originally from a small community (Greenacres, if you can believe it) in the Coast Range of Oregon, Bruce and nephew Larry Walton grew up hunting, fishing, off-roading, dirt biking and, at times, earning a living in the surrounding rainforests. Bruce got into photography at a very young age and had plenty of images published even before he began studying journalism at the University of Oregon. With over 30 years in the enthusiast magazine business as editor, photographer and writer; Bruce’s talent has allowed him to combine his passion for photography, outdoors and fast cars. Larry started shooting Bruce’s cameras in the mid 70s and spent many hours helping Burce at the race track and in the darkroom before getting his own Nikon SLR at age 17. He continued shooting as a serious amateur burning through rolls of Kodachrome while pursuing a career first in the ministry and then as the owner of a construction business. About three years ago Robin, his wife of 28 years, said “you need to join Bruce in the photography business”, advice he was glad to follow. Tim is Larry’s son but he has a passion for fast cars like Uncle Bruce. As a tuner, his car projects have been featured in several national magazines and as a driver he’s spent plenty of time on the race track. Tim grew up around photography but he approaches the camera as another tool to pursue his interest in visual art. Whether painting with brush or capturing with camera, Tim’s eye for light, color and composition bring a whole new aspect to the family business.
